Privacy Policy

Effective Date

April 9, 2026

Overview

BORIS Subsurface is created by Razza Alex Shah. This Privacy Policy explains how BORIS Subsurface handles information when you use the app. A public version of this policy will be made available at www.borissubsurface.com for App Store release.

Files and Clipboard Data You Choose to Provide

BORIS Subsurface accesses files only when you choose to open, import, or drag them into the app. This may include well log files, deviation files, well top files, and related project inputs. The app may also read plain text from the system clipboard only when you choose an import or paste workflow that uses clipboard contents.

Local Processing and Local Storage

BORIS Subsurface is designed to process your project data locally on your Mac. The app stores data locally when you save workspaces or preferences. Stored data may include imported well logs, deviation surveys, stratigraphy or well top data, workspace names, save timestamps, view or display settings, onboarding and interface preferences, and source file identifiers used to reconnect saved workspace items with files you imported.

Data Sent Off Device

BORIS Subsurface does not send your workspace data, imported scientific data, analytics, telemetry, or background usage reports to the developer or to third parties. The app does not include advertising, third-party analytics SDKs, account sign-in, or cloud sync in the current release.

Email and Support Communications

If you choose to contact BORIS Subsurface using your own email client, the information you include in that email, such as your name, email address, and message contents, may be retained in order to respond to you, troubleshoot issues, and improve the app.

Third-Party Services

BORIS Subsurface does not use in-app third-party advertising or analytics services in the current release. If you send an email, your email provider will handle that message under its own privacy practices.

Managing and Deleting Local Data

Because BORIS Subsurface stores working data locally on your device, you can generally manage or remove local data by deleting saved workspaces, changing or clearing app preferences, removing imported source files from your Mac, or deleting the app and its local application data.

Data Retention

Workspace files and local preferences remain on your Mac until you delete them. Email correspondence you voluntarily send may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to you, maintain support history, or address product, security, or legal matters.

Children

BORIS Subsurface is intended for students, researchers, and professional users. It is not designed for children.

Policy Changes

This Privacy Policy may be updated as BORIS Subsurface evolves. Any updated version will replace the current version in the app and any version published at www.borissubsurface.com.
